The first song that caught my attention and the song I was most familiar was by Parliament Funkadelic. Their song "We want the Funk" really caught my attention because it was actually the most familiar. To me it felt very 70's like. It was exactly how I imagined 70's music like. It is very catchy and a good dance song of the 1970’s. Some words are repeated very often in this song such as “funk” and “rhythm.” I am not sure of the message of the song but it seemed very plain with no meaning, something about catching the funk. Besides that the rhythm and beat is very good.

The second song I chose is called “House of the Rising Sun.” This one is by the Animals and it is very different than the first one. It is much more calm and more of a story than the first one. From what I got the house is a bad place that caused misery to the writer. But he feels he should be punished for the evil he caused there so he is going back there for punishment. What caught my attention was the story. It is very good and so is the organ solo.

The final song that caught my attention was “The Times They are a-Changin” by Bob Dylan. I remembered it from class as the “psychic” song. From the song it tells of change that is coming: rebellion, misfortune, and possibly death. It was definitely the calmest of all the songs I picked. It is also the most mellow and story-like song. The story is a bit scary since Spencer explained to us all of the events after this song that fitted the misfortune that Bob Dylan talked about.

I agree with your post about "We Want the Funk". I remeber hearing it somewhere and the beat seems familiar. I agree that there is some meaning behind the rythemic tone of the song
