The sculpure below is of a jaguar which was thought to be a god. The Mayans believed that there was a jaguar god that determined the fate of all humankind. Most of the art that Mayans made were dedicated to their gods. Their art is fascinating because of the complex designs and patterns on the art they made. Mayan art has sometimes even been called the greatest art of the New World. Art was definately an important aspect of the Mayans. One can make many assumptions about them just from looking at their art. Their art reveals a lot about their values. Although I do not necessarily think their art is very beautifull i still find it intreguing.
